Anonymous asked: favorite animu of 2012?
Favorite Anime of 2012: It’s a hard one because I didn’t watch a lot of new stuff this year. Call it bias towards what was offered or my tendency to want to marathon (or at least have all the episodes on hand) but nothing really jumped out at me. I still watched a couple of shows.
3rd Place: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
This is in third for a number of reasons but mainly because the bulk of it is going to come out in 2013. Of what has come out so far it’s been really good. Hitting all the points I wanted to. It’s a nice refresher for the plot and all this Jojo fever surrounding the anniversery has made me go back and get immersed in it (which is always really fun, especially now with tumblr). Here’s to more JJBA fun in the coming year.
2nd: Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine
I had liked of Lupin III since it aired on TV for me back in the early 2000s but as I but wouldn’t have called myself a fan until a year or so ago. This show was the thing I was looking forward to this year but for one reason or another it just didn’t connect with me 100%. Visually it was excellent, but I think I didn’t like what it was trying to tell with it’s story. I will be watching this one again. It’s pretty short after all. Maybe I will write more about it after my second viewing.
1st: Space Brothers:
This show really surprised me. I am not up to date on it (I am only at episode 30) but the fact that this show has kept me hooked for this long, and I am not doing it to spite myself, is reason enough to put it at my number one. It’s been a while since I invested myself this much into a long running anime, but like always it comes down to how likable the characters are, and this cast is pretty great. I am curious how far A-1 pictures is willing to make this, since the manga is still going on, but for now I will gladly continue to watch this show into 2013.
